Greek Olive Leaf Necklace 

The olive leaves beneath the metal came to my studio from literally as far across the world as they could be. I got them from a woman in Greece who described that they are "from my organically cultured olive-tree grove of Chalkidiki variety trees. They are collected by hand, with care under the Greek sun." And I am pretty sure a necklace couldn't have a cooler backstory than that!

Olive leaves are one of the oldest symbols of peace, hope, and victory. I hope that as you wear this necklace, it can be a symbol of those things as well as a reminder that you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful world. Every detail of this Earth is so intricately beautiful, down to the texture and detail of an olive leaf. 

16 inch necklaces (plus 2 inch extender) have a leaf that ranges from 1.5-2.5 inches in length. 
20 inch necklaces (plus 2 inch extender) have a leaf that ranges from 2-3 inches in length. 

The process: After these leaves are collected by hand from a grove in Greece, we waited several months for them to dry out. The leaves are carefully sorted through. We hand-pick the very prettiest ones to use, the ones with the prettiest shapes.  Then every leaf has to be dipped several times in a coating to harden and strengthen it, and hung up to dry between each coat. It is carefully hand painted with conductive paint, and then goes through a 20 hour process of having metal deposited particle by particle over the entire leaf. I add more metal than usual, to help strengthen the leaf and to give it a bit more weight so that it will fall perfectly. The chains are measured and cut, put together using locking jump rings (which are time intensive to put on, but so worth it to strengthen the necklace!). Long story short... so much time and love has been put into this necklace from multiple people across the world.

The chain is solid sterling silver, gold filled, or rose gold filled. The leaf is formed in a core of pure copper, then heavily plated in gold, rose gold, or silver. All Little Sycamore jewelry is lead & nickel free.
