Sunshine Studs · Garnet, January's Birthstone
With the gold metal surrounding the golden garnets, these look like little tiny suns to me. I hope that these pretty little things will add a little bit of sunshine to your day every time you wear them! Each pair of earrings is handmade using raw, natural crystals. The beauty of this is that every pair will turn out perfectly unique.
The golden garnets are about 5-8mm and set on solid sterling silver earring posts and the settings are heavily plated in 18k gold. All Little Sycamore jewelry is lead & nickel free.
The process: So many stones are searched through, hand-selecting the ones that will be prettiest for these earrings. Each stone is set with the prettiest side facing outward. The back and edges of the stones are carefully painted with conductive paint. Using an electric current, pure copper deposits onto the base of the stones for 12+ hours. This slow build up of metal creates a unique and organic looking setting that very securely holds the stones in place. The earrings are tumbled, hand-polished, and plated in the thickest possible plating of 18k gold. Long story short... a whole lot of time and love is put into these little beauties!
